About ATCOsim

ATCOsim develops air traffic control simulation software for training controllers. The company, registered as ATCOsim Investment s.r.l., is based in Voluntari near Bucharest, Romania, and sells two products: a 3D tower simulator and a radar simulator.

Products

  • ATCOsim 3D Tower: a tower simulator built on the DirectX 11 engine, with day and night transitions, 4K textures and, according to the company, more than 5,000 aircraft liveries on 200 aircraft types. It runs on a large LCD array or on a full 360 degree curved screen with edge blending.
  • Pseudo-pilot and supervisor interfaces with configurable aircraft tags, automated direct taxi routing, METAR input and emergency scenarios such as stuck gear, engine smoke or fire.
  • Weather and A-SMGCS surface radar displays for ground and tower controller positions.
  • ATCOsim Radar: a customisable radar simulator with a plug-in architecture, 4D trajectory calculation, arrival sequencing, medium term conflict detection and safety nets such as STCA and MSAW.
  • Voice communication system based on voice over IP, with frequency switching, controller intercom and recorded communications stored with the radar log.

Scenario design

Instructors can build a tower scenario by adding aircraft and vehicles, adjust an exercise while it runs, or record a live traffic snapshot from an ADS-B receiver and turn it into a training scenario. The simulator platform is designed for remote training over the internet.

Who it serves

The company describes its tower simulator as suited to airports that need to train controllers for demanding traffic and to established schools upgrading to curved screen projection. The radar simulator covers training from ab-initio to progressive level.
