Alas de San Miguel (Wings of Saint Michael)

Alas de San Miguel is a flight school based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It trains students and pilots for United States Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates and ratings. The school operates as a Part 61 school. It has flown the Rocky Mountains from Alaska to the Sierra Gordas in Mexico for over 40 years. The school is happy to offer professional level aviation training from its base in Santa Fe.

The school welcomes both people who are totally new to the cockpit and experienced pilots with thousands of hours. Its students have ranged from age 16 to age 76. The training program is designed for people who want to fly commercially, for business, or purely for pleasure. The school has had the pleasure of meeting many aspiring and enthusiastic students and pilots over the years.

As a Part 61 school, Alas de San Miguel can adjust training to fit each student's schedule and learning style. There is no classroom requirement. Students are free to study at their own leisure using videos, manuals, or internet based programs. Ground instruction is provided as needed to prepare for the written Knowledge Test. The school provides this instruction as part of its basic training program.

The school emphasizes safety from before starting the motor until the aircraft is tied down at the end of each flight. Once received, a pilot certificate never expires. Students who fly their own US registered aircraft may legally perform some preventative maintenance tasks themselves. There are no fees payable to the FAA before, during, or after their training. The school believes students are self motivated and will set goals for completion of each phase.

For rated pilots, the school offers flight reviews and instrument proficiency checks. It provides mountain flying ground and flight instruction. Cross border operations and aviation English ground school courses are also available. The school offers ferry services for aircraft within the US or to and from Mexico and Canada. Group training and ground school are available in the southwestern United States.

The school assists in the co validation of Mexican AFAC pilot certificates for US FAA certificates. It offers guidance to foreign pilots on operations and resources related to flying in Mexico. The school also assists in the acquisition, registration, and maintenance of US registered aircraft. Other services include high quality low level aerial photography and fingerprinting for Alien Flight Student Program requirements.
