About AIR DJIBOUTI

Air Djibouti is the national airline of Djibouti. It is also known as Red Sea Airline. The airline was established in 1963, which makes it one of the oldest airlines in its region. It is based at Ambouli International Airport in Djibouti.

The airline stopped all operations in 1991. It restarted commercial services in 2015, after more than a dozen years away from the sky. In its early years, it flew to three continents. These were Africa, Europe and the Middle East in Asia.

Air Djibouti says it plans to grow both its freight and passenger services. It wants to expand in the region and abroad. Its stated aim is to become a new bridge to Africa, with a strong focus on safety, quality and aviation services. It also says it wants staff to have a workplace that supports growth and good performance.

The airline has shared news about its people. On one flight, the crew was made up only of Djiboutian professionals for the first time. The airline also congratulated its engineers who earned diplomas from the Fujairah Aviation Academy.

Training is part of its story. In July 2021, Air Djibouti and International Pilot Academy announced a partnership. They planned a new pilot training center in Djibouti, starting in January 2022. The announcement came during a virtual ceremony.

Air Djibouti also joins community events. It has held an annual 10 km race with the Djiboutian Athletics Federation, the Djiboutian National Olympic and Sports Committee and the State Secretariat for Sports. The fourth edition took place on 10 November 2023. The third edition took place on 25 November 2022.

The airline also launched a COVID 19 vaccination drive for its staff and for people working at Djibouti International Airport. The website carries news items on these events. Readers can follow updates on the airline there.
