About Air Club Skopje

Air Club Skopje was founded in 1923. It is also known as AKS. The club has spent more than 100 years developing and promoting aviation sports in Macedonia. Many aviators have passed through the club over the decades. They helped the organization continue through wars, crises, and changes in government.

The club operates Sports Airport Stenkovec. The airport code is LWSN. This is the main base for club activities. People can take part in aviation sports there under Macedonian law and European standards. The club provides general aviation services at this airfield.

The club runs a training center for pilots and skydivers. It offers programs for pilots, glider pilots, and skydivers. Training follows the clubs operational programs and legal requirements. The club holds operation certificates from the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of Macedonia in line with JAR FCL. These certificates allow it to offer flight and jumping training.

The fleet includes several aircraft types. A Cessna 172 Skyhawk built in 1969 is used for basic pilot training and panoramic flights. A Cessna 182 Skylane provides four seat transport. An American Champion Citabria supports light aviation activities. Two Partenavia P68 twin engine aircraft are used for multi engine training, IFR, skydiving, and VIP transport.

The club holds a certificate for specialized aircraft work. Its twin engine aircraft carry atomizers for spraying insecticides and fungicides. The club performs oral rabies vaccination for foxes across the Balkans. It also offers early detection of forest fires, topographic mapping, and support for film and television production. Airplane banner advertising and leaflet drops are available too.

The aircraft service unit operates in compliance with EASA Part 145 standards. The club organizes aviation events and air shows. It planned a major air show in September 2023 to mark its centenary. Friends from the region and beyond took part with their aircraft. The club continues to host celebrations and competitions.

Macedonia is the main market for Air Club Skopje. The club also offers services in neighboring countries. Its stated principles are commitment, efficiency, and hard work. These principles guide service to members, clients, and the wider community.
