About AIE

Advanced Innovative Engineering, known as AIE, is an engine maker based in Lichfield, United Kingdom. The site says it grew from a design and manufacturing heritage that goes back to Norton in the 1960s. It says it has about 80 years of combined engineering experience. It specialises in Wankel rotary engines for drones, marine and automotive use.

Four engines are listed. The 40ACS makes 5 BHP, the 80S makes 15 BHP, the 225CS makes 40 BHP and the 650S makes 120 BHP. The 40ACS and 225CS use a patented cooling system called Compact SPARCS. The 650S is described for UAVs, sports motorcycles, high performance vehicles and as a range extender. Datasheets can be downloaded.

The company says its engines have over 1 million flight hours in active service and have raced at the Isle of Man TT. It says it designs, builds and tests a product around the needs of each customer, from concept to manufacture, at one site in the UK.

News on the site covers three items. AIE joined a research project on hydrogen fuelled engines with Brunel University London and Mahle Powertrain. It commented on a Midlands aerospace cluster report. It also showed a heavy fuel rotary engine built under a contract with a US Army research lab.

The company says its quality system meets the AS9100D standard. It lists dealers in the United States and Taiwan. The contact page offers a phone number, a postal address and an email form.
