About Adams and Reese LLP

Adams & Reese is a law firm with roots in New Orleans. Its history starts with St. Clair Adams Sr., who served as New Orleans District Attorney from 1908 to 1912. In 1951, St. Clair Adams Jr. and W. Ford Reese formed the Adams & Reese partnership. The firm says it has always operated where business and government meet.

The firm grew first along the Gulf Coast, with work in energy and transportation in Mobile and Houston. It later opened offices in Baton Rouge and Washington, DC. In the Southeast it grew by merging with local firms and by hiring groups of lawyers. Its merged firms include Lange Simpson in Birmingham, Stokes and Bartholomew in Nashville, Ellis Lawhorne in Columbia, South Carolina, and Volpe Bajalia in Jacksonville. Groups of lawyers also started offices in Jackson, Mississippi and Tampa.

Today the firm says it has more than 300 lawyers and government relations advisors. It has offices in 20 markets. It is recognized each year in The American Lawyer's AmLaw 200, which lists the largest US law firms by revenue and headcount. The firm says 57 of its attorneys were ranked by Chambers, and it marked 75 years in business.

Adams & Reese serves a wide range of clients. The firm lists Fortune 500 companies, large financial institutions, government entities, non-profits, small businesses, local entities and individuals among them. Its practice areas include aviation and aerospace, anti-counterfeiting, construction, economic development, education, global intellectual property, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, roofing and data centers.

Its industry groups cover aviation and aerospace, banking and finance, consumer products, energy, entertainment, media and sports, forestry, government, insurance, international trade, maritime, and transportation and logistics. Nearly 100 construction attorneys, including board certified specialists, are licensed to practice in more than 35 states.

The firm has recently added four intellectual property litigation and patent lawyers. Its IP practice has experience in entertainment and blockchain. The firm describes its culture as a key reason for its lasting growth.

Community work is part of the firm's identity. It runs the HUGS corporate philanthropy program and the CA&RE pro bono initiative. Employees have given thousands of hours to people in need and to equal access to justice.
