Operators at the altiport

The altiport

Courchevel altiport (LFLJ) sits at 2,007 m. Its runway is 537 m long and 40 m wide with a slope of up to 18.5%: aircraft land uphill and take off downhill, and pilots need a Courchevel site authorisation. It opened in 1961 and has been cleared of snow every winter since 1971. It handles about 6,500 movements each winter, 70% of them helicopters. It is open all year, from 9:00 to 19:00, with no night flights except rescue.

Heli-skiing

Heli-skiing drop-offs are banned in France, so you cannot heli-ski from Courchevel. Operators fly skiers to Switzerland or Italy instead. See Helicopter Alps for the rules in each country.
