American Airlines Cargo signed a new five-year cargo handling agreement with WFS covering eight European countries, announced by WFS on 5 November 2026. WFS supports the airline at major stations across Europe. The renewal extends a partnership of more than 40 years and supports American's transatlantic network linking Europe, the United States and the rest of its network.
What the agreement covers
The agreement spans Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. It includes cargo and mail handling, security screening, customs and documentation support, and special care for pharmaceuticals, live animals, dangerous goods and e-commerce shipments. American Airlines Cargo also keeps access to the WFS road feeder service in Europe.
Road feeder service uses trucks to move air cargo between airports, which links key gateways and gives more flexibility. Greg Schwendinger, President of American Airlines Cargo, said the WFS partnership has played an important role in supporting the airline's operations in Europe.
The long partnership
The companies describe their partnership as more than 40 years old. Dan Parker, SVP Commercial EMEA at WFS, said, "Our relationship with American Airlines Cargo spans more than 40 years and continues to grow in strength". He added that the renewal reflects trust built over time and the reach of the WFS network in Europe.
Outside Europe, WFS also handles cargo for American Airlines Cargo at several gateways in North America and Asia.
