Wing, the drone delivery company owned by Alphabet, said on 6 November 2026 it will invest up to US$125 million in direct manufacturing at its newest drone factory in Fort Worth, Texas. The announcement was made on Wing's website. Wing began in 2012 at X, Alphabet's research lab for new ideas.
Factory plan
The site is 15,000 square feet. Wing says the plant will be able to build tens of thousands of aircraft each year. Wing says it will create up to 100 manufacturing jobs there. The company says the spending will take place over the next two years. The facility will build Wing's next-generation delivery aircraft, which has not been named. No production start date was given.
Wing is also investing in research and development and engineering in California, and in the communities where it flies. "The U.S. is our focus for growth," said Adam Woodworth, CEO of Wing. He said demand from partners and their customers has made drone delivery real around the world, and building in the United States supports American aviation work as the company grows.
Why now
Wing says it flies from more than 70 sites in the United States that serve large cities. The company says it plans to reach more than 40 million Americans by 2027 in nearly 20 U.S. markets. Wing says it has made more than one million home deliveries in the United States this year. In 2019, Wing received the first U.S. Part 135 air carrier certificate for drone operations. The company points to a coming U.S. rule for flights beyond visual line of sight as a reason it expects strong growth in drone delivery. The rule is not out yet.
