About Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre
Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre is a flight training organization at the Region of Waterloo International Airport in Breslau, Ontario. It began in 1932 as a flying club at Lexington field in North Waterloo. The organization helped found the Waterloo airport at its current location in 1950 and managed the airport for more than 20 years.
The centre trains commercial and private pilots. It offers recreational pilot training and commercial pilot training. Programs include an Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence program, a modular approach program, and flight instructor ratings. Post secondary programs are available through partnerships with the University of Waterloo and Conestoga College. The centre also welcomes international students. Information sessions are available for prospective students. The centre offers grade six field trips and scholarships.
Ground school courses cover private pilot licenses, commercial pilot licenses, and instrument ratings. Other training includes drone training and a sim centre for advanced training. The centre is an approved Transport Canada testing site. Scenic flights and introductory flights are available for those who want to experience flying. Clients can access flight planning resources and flight status information through the website. An alumni network and Fun Flyers group support the flying community.
The fleet includes Cessna, Diamond and Piper Seminole aircraft. The aircraft are used for flight training and recreational rentals. The maintenance division is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization. It maintains the training fleet and offers services to private aircraft owners. These services include annual inspections, oil changes, pre purchase inspections, and airworthiness directive research. The maintenance team works on single engine Cessna aircraft, PA-28 and PA-44 series, Diamond DA-40 aircraft, and electric aircraft. The shop holds an electric aircraft rating on its AMO.
The centre offers hangar rental and aircraft maintenance. It operates Runways Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. The facility includes a pilot shop, flight planning resources, and a flight status page. The organization is registered as a career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
