The Coves

About The Coves

The Coves is a residential estate on the shore of Hartbeespoort Dam in North West Province, South Africa, about 40 minutes from Johannesburg and Pretoria. It describes itself as one of a handful of aviation estates in the country, with a private airfield alongside homes, a waterfront and a clubhouse.

Aviation at The Coves

  • 900 m tarred runway with two windsocks and maintained grass verges
  • Aero Cove: a 15 stand residential area next to the runway, designed for homes with private hangars, so owners can taxi from the runway to their property
  • Six additional hangars next to the airfield for residents who live elsewhere on the estate
  • The Coves Aero Club, founded in 2010, which applies operational and safety rules; visitors may land by invitation from a resident host, in civil daylight hours only
  • About 25 aircraft based on the estate, the estate says
  • A radio controlled flying club registered with SAMAA, and an annual fly-in

The Coves sells freehold and sectional title homes through active estate agents listed on its website. The site describes a clubhouse with a restaurant and pub, 103 boathouses and a private slipway, walking and cycling paths, a catch and release bass dam and 24 hour security.
