The Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) is the official training arm of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), established 1985 by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Located at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) Terminal One in Dar es Salaam, CATC delivers nationally and internationally recognized aviation training courses.
The Centre provides specialized instruction in air traffic management, aeronautical information management, communication/navigation/surveillance systems, airport operations, aviation security, and drone pilot training. CATC develops competent aviation personnel supporting Tanzania’s dynamic and fast-growing aviation industry.
Core values emphasize excellence, efficiency, teamwork, flexibility, and safety across all operational and training activities. Courses meet international standards enabling graduates to work throughout the region and globally.
CATC operates six specialized training divisions: Air Traffic Management including aerodrome control, approach control procedural, area control procedural, and area control surveillance training. Aeronautical Information Management providing navigational and airport information systems training.
Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems training covering radio, radar, and navigation equipment. Airport Operations training for ground operations and facilities management. Aviation Security training addressing threat assessment and facility protection.
Course Development designing and updating training curricula to meet industry standards. All courses emphasize practical competency, safety compliance, and internationally recognized standards enabling regional and global employment.
CATC operates from Dar es Salaam’s primary aviation hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport, Tanzania’s largest airport connecting to regional and international destinations. Strategic location serves East Africa’s aviation professionals.
The Centre’s government affiliation with TCAA ensures alignment with national aviation standards and regulations. Internationally recognized curricula enable graduates to work across the region and globally.
