Super T Aviation

Super T Aviation is a flight training school and charter operator in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. It also offers FBO and aircraft maintenance services. The company is family owned and part of the Bar XH Sales family of companies.

The company says it has served southern Alberta since 2008. Its roots go back to 1965 through an earlier company, Bar XH Air, which did flight training, medevac, charter and scheduled service. Student pilots draw on that long history.

Super T Aviation Academy is a designated learning institution in Alberta. It takes both international and domestic students at all levels of flight training. Each student goes through a selection process that checks motivation, ability to pay for training and aptitude. This is done through interviews or computer tests.

The school offers programmes from a complete beginner to a fully qualified airline pilot. These include the private pilot licence, the commercial pilot licence and ratings, an integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence programme and an aviation management certificate.

The fleet has eight Cessna 172s, a Cessna 210, a Beechcraft Baron, a Super Decathlon and a King Air 200. The King Air 200 seats nine, cruises at 260 knots and has a range of 1,000 nautical miles. The Baron seats six and cruises at 183 knots. Students also train on two ALSIM flight training devices.

The school says Medicine Hat is a good place to learn. The airfield sits in uncontrolled airspace with six training practice areas. Calgary International Airport is a short cross-country flight away, which lets students see busy controlled airspace. The school says students need 20 to 30 fewer hours to earn a private licence than at a busier airport. Canada's weather also lets students learn cold weather and summer operations.

Beyond training, the company runs charter flights, including sightseeing and aerial photography. It rents aircraft and provides FBO services for visiting aircraft.
