Seitec
Seitec builds Nightingale, a passive seismic sensor network that detects people, vehicles, aircraft and ordnance impacts, from Canberra.
About Seitec
Seitec is a defence technology company based in Canberra, Australia. It was founded in 2021 to develop and sell passive seismic sensing technology. Its main product is Nightingale, an edge AI sensor system. The site says Nightingale feels movement through the ground and air to detect people, vehicles, drones, aircraft and ordnance impacts.
Nightingale has three packages that run on the same sensor hardware. CORE detects and tracks people, vehicles and small drones. AIR gives passive awareness of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. STRIKE detects and scores ordnance impacts on weapons ranges, giving impact location for range safety.
The site says seismic sensing can cover blind spots and work past walls, because it does not need a line of sight. It says a sensor node takes about 180 seconds to install. It also says the sensors work indoors and outdoors, day or night.
The founder and chief executive, Daniel Stevens, spent 20 years in the Royal Australian Air Force. The site says he worked on air weapons ranges and first had the idea in 2019. The concept was proven in 2020 with support from Jericho, the innovation branch of the Air Force. Seitec was founded in 2021 with support from the Defence Science and Technology Group.
The site lists $4.9 million AUD in investment raised to date and a $4 million Seed B round in July 2026. It reports a first development contract worth $4.2 million in 2023 and a $1.2 million CASG contract in 2025 for testing STRIKE. Other news items say international special forces began CORE testing in April 2026, and the United States Air Force began STRIKE testing in February 2026.
The site names Bevan Fairleigh as chief technology officer and the company's first full-time employee. The site lists an email contact, a LinkedIn page and an office in Fyshwick, Australian Capital Territory.
