Protocol UAS

Protocol UAS is a group that helps businesses plan and run drone programs. It focuses on unmanned aerial vehicles, also called UAS or RPAS. The company says its team can guide operation leaders through each step needed to start a safe and efficient drone program. The site says this work can be done for operations anywhere in the world.

The site says the company tracks new technologies and tests how they fit existing tasks. It compares automated options with manual or semi-automatic processes. Protocol looks for end-to-end solutions, such as data collection tools, data processing and data integration. In some cases it advises a client to keep the existing process until the technology or the rules improve.

Services include initial operation development, complex operation development and fleet management solutions. Initial work covers the purpose of an operation, aircraft choice, data methods and how to staff and train remote pilots. For complex operations that fall outside standard rules, the company says it can connect clients with regulators and legal advisers.

The company helps clients request controlled airspace access. This includes automated LAANC requests and applications through the FAA Drone Zone website. It also offers help with FAA waiver applications. The site says the company has relationships with contract remote pilot groups, training organizations and insurance underwriters for UAS coverage.

The site says Protocol does not currently offer training itself. Instead, it refers clients to training organizations in North America or helps develop a custom training method. The site says the company has familiarity with drone rules in other countries and can make introductions to foreign organizations. The contact page includes a form, and the site says it answers messages as soon as possible.
