Phoenix Heli-Flight Inc.

Phoenix Heli-Flight Inc. is a privately owned charter helicopter company. Its headquarters and main base are at the Fort McMurray Airport in Alberta. The company has been in operation for 30 years. It started in 1991 with one leased AStar.

Phoenix operates a fleet of ten Airbus helicopters, which were formerly made by Eurocopter. The fleet includes single and twin turbine light helicopters. The company says it offers low time aircraft. The fleet includes the AS350B2, AS350B3DH, AS355N, AS355NP, EC120B, EC135T2e and H130 (EC130T2).

Phoenix operates the Local HERO Foundation's EC135 for dedicated helicopter emergency medical services. The service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo area. Seven stretcher equipped helicopters are on backup.

The company serves a wide range of industries, including exploration, wildlife surveys, utilities, oil and gas, forestry, construction, infrastructure maintenance and corporate transport. Its services include passenger transportation, cargo transportation, medevac, aerial construction, wildfire suppression, forest management and environmental work. Drone services are also offered, including thermal and infrared work.

Helicopter tours cover Fort McMurray, the oil sands and the Wood Buffalo region. Tour stops include the Clearwater River Valley, the Suncor Base Plant, Syncrude Mildred Lake and Whitemud Falls.

The Fort McMurray facility has an operations hangar with offices and a customer reception area. The maintenance hangar has parts storage, shipping and receiving, training areas and space for maintenance tasks. The ramp has seven landing pads, served by two stationary fuel tanks and a mobile tank.

For safety, the company uses Outerlink satellite monitoring and helicopter flight data monitoring. Phoenix also publishes a safety policy statement on its website.
