National Composites Centre
UK research centre for advanced composites and materials manufacturing
About National Composites Centre
The National Composites Centre, known as NCC, is a not for profit innovation organisation in the UK. It helps companies move new research and technology into industrial use. Its address is the Bristol and Bath Science Park at Emersons Green, Bristol.
The site says NCC works across the full life of a product, from the first idea to end of life. It acts as an extension of its customers' own teams. It also says it gives access to innovation facilities worth 300 million pounds, along with engineering skills and research.
NCC names four growth sectors. These are aerospace, defence, energy and other sectors. For aerospace it talks about placing the UK in a role on future civil aircraft platforms. Its recent articles cover hydrogen in UK aerospace, defence skills and space.
Its work is grouped into materials, product and process. The materials team develops new materials. The product team builds lightweight, high performance products. The process side offers an open access facility to test and prove industrial methods. NCC also looks for new technologies that could have a large industrial effect.
Service areas on the site include skills, technical help, innovation, support for small and medium businesses, capabilities, and insight and impact. The site also says NCC is leading business support for a new 9.8 million pound robotics hub in the Greater South West.
The site has an enquiry form and a phone number. It lists separate contacts for procurement, purchasing and invoicing, and a page for people who want to work with NCC or join its careers pages.
NCC also publishes articles and news on its site. Recent topics include recycling wind blade waste, hydrogen in aviation, skills for future defence engineers and the 15 year anniversary of the centre. A corporate brochure can be downloaded from the about page.
