About Mountain View Helicopters

Mountain View Helicopters is a helicopter flight school, charter operator and tour company at Springbank Airport, about 10 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta. The company has been in operation for over 20 years. It is a fully accredited Private Vocational Institution in Alberta.

The Springbank facility has been in operation since 1995. The school trains pilots for commercial and private licences. It also provides advanced and recurrent training for many pilots working in Western Canada. The training program includes advanced skills that are useful after a commercial licence. Because the school is a commercial operator, it can design courses around skills that operators look for.

The airport is a fully operational Transport Canada airport. Training benefits from prairie flying weather, mountains close by for training, and frequent contact with air traffic controllers. A FLYIT simulator is housed in the hangar. Courses include discovery flights, private and commercial helicopter pilot training, night rating, instrument rating, an approved mountain course, IIMC training and foreign licence conversion.

Students in the full time commercial program can apply to the Canada Student Loans program for funding. The school is also recognized as an approved educational facility for RESPs.

The training fleet includes Robinson R22 Beta and Beta II helicopters for most primary training. The R44 Raven II is used for ab initio, advanced, mountain and instrument training. A Bell 206 JetRanger is used for turbine endorsements and training. The R44 has been the world's best-selling general aviation helicopter every year since 1999.

The company also runs charters and scenic tours. Charter work includes aerial photography, VIP transport, media flights, forestry, oil and gas support, and engagement or wedding flights. Scenic tours run from a main base just west of Calgary and a seasonal tour base in Drumheller, with family friendly flights for all budgets.

The in house Aircraft Maintenance Organization is certified by Transport Canada. It is a certified Robinson Service Centre and is approved to work on Bell 206 helicopters. The company is also a Robinson Helicopter Approved Component Maintenance Facility, and its maintenance team cares for privately owned aircraft as well as the school fleet.
