Latam Aviation Academy

Latam Aviation Academy is an aeronautical instruction centre in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia. It trains private and commercial pilots for both airplanes and helicopters and says it follows current Colombian aviation regulation, aligned with RAC 141. Its website promotes real aircraft, professional simulators and certified instructors.

The private helicopter program page lists entry requirements taken from the Colombian aeronautical regulations: an admission exam with a minimum score, the ICFES state exam certificate for national students, a signed acknowledgement that the licence is issued by the civil aviation authority (UAEAC) and that the school cannot guarantee it, and a psychophysical fitness requirement. Students from other institutions sit a general exam on the subjects to be recognised and must score at least 70 percent, and flight students are assessed by an instructor in an initial check.

Other programs

The academy also lists airplane programs for private and commercial pilots and additional courses: recognition of prior knowledge, recovery of autonomy, validation of foreign licences from ICAO member countries, and an airplane flight instructor rating. It also mentions recurrent training and proficiency courses.

Facilities

The academy says it has the only Redbird MCX full motion simulator in Colombia. Student comments on the site refer to a Cessna 172 XP airplane fleet. The pages reviewed do not name its training helicopters. The site lists financing partners and an agreement with Vector for a line transition course after graduation.
