KRC Machine Tool Solutions

KRC Machine Tool Solutions is a machine tool builder and service provider in Independence, Kentucky. It was established in 1989 and designs, engineers and assembles CNC machines at its Kentucky facility using foreign and domestic parts. Its turn-key machine systems cover aerospace, heavy equipment, energy, marine and automotive manufacturing.

Machines

• Fusion VI Series, a large format gantry mill for composites that handles trimming, drilling, routing, surface milling, marking and inspection in one setup
• Machines for high speed milling and grinding of structural aluminum components, and for trimming and drilling lightweight composites
• Velocity VTL Series vertical turning machines
• HBM Series horizontal boring machines
• Stock machines and custom builds made to a customer requirement

In 2018 KRC entered a technology agreement with Flow Aerospace, LLC for the rights to design and make the Gen 5 composite machining center gantries. The company describes the Fusion VI Series as the latest evolution of a product line first released in 1991.

Rebuild and retrofit

• Rebuilds that return a machine to its original mechanical specification
• CNC retrofits that replace the control, servo and spindle motors, drives and wiring, including Fanuc and Siemens controls
• Remanufacturing, which adds a redesign to improve capability and productivity
• Machine tool scraping, relocation and installation

Service

• Onsite repair, preventive maintenance contracts and full time outsourced maintenance
• Technicians based across the USA, including Seattle and San Diego, working on machining centers, grinders, lathes, boring mills and gantry mills
• Control experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazatrol and Fagor
• Laser calibration and alignment to help customers meet ISO and AS9100 requirements
• Authorized Heidenhain and Fagor distributor, and field service work for OEMs such as Mazak and Flow Waterjet

Measurement solutions

KRC Measurement Solutions, a branch of the company, has held ISO 17025:2017 accreditation since 2014 at its San Diego laboratory. Its NIST traceable calibrations include oven and furnace accuracy tests, temperature uniformity surveys to AMS 2750, thread ring and plug gages, depth gages, scales and balances. Calibrations are returned within five days, with onsite work also available.
