Isla Grande Flying School

Isla Grande Flying School is a flight school in Puerto Rico. The school sits on the north ramp of Fernando L. Ribas-Dominicci Airport, which has the FAA code SIG and ICAO code TJIG. The site says the school opened in 1953 and is celebrating 73 years in 2026.

The school trains airplane and helicopter pilots. Airplane courses include the private pilot certificate for single and multi-engine aircraft, the instrument rating, the commercial pilot certificate and the airline transport pilot certificate. It also offers flight instructor courses, including instrument and multi-engine instructor ratings, and spin training.

The school also offers a helicopter private pilot certificate. Other services include introductory flights, sightseeing flights, a pilot and gift shop, Av-Gas fuel service and a fuel dispatch service.

The site says the school is one of only three schools in Puerto Rico that the Federal Aviation Administration recognizes. It says the fleet includes basic single engine trainers, advanced glass cockpit aircraft, complex aircraft, twin engine airplanes and a helicopter. The main training aircraft are Cessna. The school says it became the first international Cessna Pilot Center in the world. Cessna Pilot Centers are training providers approved and contracted by the manufacturer.

Dionisio Reyes is the founder, and Awilda Reyes is the co-founder. Carlos Reyes and Norma Reyes are the owners. The site says the school hopes to complete a full century of serving aviation in Puerto Rico.
