Fodsigns is a website about FOD prevention. FOD means foreign object debris or damage. It sells signs and other products that help keep work areas clear of loose objects. It is run under the name Solutions For FOD Prevention. The site is aimed at aviation and other manufacturing fields.

The site explains what FOD is. Foreign object debris is any material that does not belong in a vehicle, machine or system and could cause damage. Foreign object damage is the harm that such an object does. A simple example is a screw left behind from an earlier build that falls into the new one and damages it.

The site says the term is common in aviation. It covers tools left in an aircraft after manufacturing or service, and loose items in a cockpit that could jam the controls. It cites FAA advisory circulars on airport FOD detection equipment and FOD management. It says Eurocontrol, ECAC and ICAO support the newer definition that focuses on debris.

The product range is built around signs. A risk series uses color: red for critical areas, yellow for control areas and blue for awareness areas. The site also sells FOD magnets and stickers for equipment, and banners that remind staff of the dangers. It lists sweepers as another product group.

The site argues that FOD walks, which are routine searches of the ground, are not enough alone. It says wind can carry light objects over great distances and people can drop items after a walk. Warning signs, it says, help keep the danger in mind.
