About Edmonton Regional Helicopters

Edmonton Regional Helicopters (ERH) is a helicopter charter company in Edmonton, Alberta. Established in 2010, it describes itself as Edmonton's primary helicopter charter company and offers both commercial work and public flights, from pipeline inspection to city and river tours. Flights depart from the Airside Flight Services departure lounge at Edmonton International Airport (CYEG).

Services

  • City and river tours of Edmonton, with flights of 25, 30 and 40 minutes, a 40 minute tour that includes a brief river landing, and a 50 minute custom charter where the customer chooses the route
  • Experiences and events, including a Prairie Gardens picnic flight that combines a helicopter ride with a farm-to-table picnic in a 40 acre woods preserve
  • Flight upgrades and gift certificates
  • Commercial work: pipeline inspection, hot shot services, property inspection, aerial photography, fish and wildlife surveys and forestry support

Because ERH is an air charter company, pricing is per flight and not per seat. Customers can use an executive lounge before and after the flight.

Aircraft

ERH flies the Robinson R44 Raven II, which it chose for versatility, performance and safety record. The website lists three passengers plus the pilot, a range of about 2.75 hours or 275 nautical miles, a cruise speed of 130 KIAS, and a maximum passenger and cargo weight of about 625 lb.

Safety

  • Pilots complete regular proficiency evaluations, including written and oral exams, flight exercises and an annual Pilot Proficiency Check with a Transport Canada approved Class 1 instructor
  • Additional training covers low visibility operations, hover deplaning, crew resource management, pilot decision making and first aid
  • Maintenance schedules are managed by a Person Responsible for Maintenance
  • Aircraft carry an emergency survival kit, a first aid kit and a 406 MHz emergency locator transmitter, and flight following procedures apply
