About Chinook HelicoptersLtd.

Chinook Helicopters Ltd. is a flight school at Abbotsford Airport in British Columbia, Canada. The site says it has trained pilots since 1982. It teaches on both helicopters and airplanes and runs Aviation Training Organization programs approved in Canada. It operates from a 40,000 square foot facility.

The company says pilots from over 68 countries have trained there. The site describes mountain flying as a feature of the training. It also lists on-site pilot examiners, Transport Canada written exams and temporary foreign licensing.

Helicopter courses include the private licence, the commercial licence, the instrument flight rating and a set of endorsements and ratings. The site says a student can finish the commercial helicopter licence in four months. The airplane program prepares students for an airline career in as little as 10 months. The company says it has 16 helicopters, which it describes as one of the largest training fleets in Canada. Students can fly the Bell 47, Robinson R44, Bell 206 and Bell 505.

The about page says Larry Press began operating the school at Abbotsford in 1983, and his daughter Cathy Press took over in 1998. She is the owner and chief executive today. The company has a safety management system and lists two safety awards, from 2017 and 2025. It works with Transport Canada and groups such as the Helicopter Association of Canada, the BC Aviation Council and the Air Transport Association of Canada.

The site invites students to register for the September 2026 intake or to book an introductory flight. Phone numbers include 1-604-855-1100.
