About Cayman Airways

Cayman Airways is the national flag carrier of the Cayman Islands. It is based in Grand Cayman and has flown since 1968. The airline is wholly owned by the Cayman government. It flies to the United States, the Caribbean and Central America.

The company began operations on August 7, 1968. It was formed when the Cayman government bought 51 percent of Cayman Brac Airways from LACSA, the Costa Rican flag carrier. It became fully government owned in December 1977. Its first international route was Grand Cayman to Kingston, Jamaica. It got its first jet in 1978. The site says it now employs nearly 400 people.

Today the airline flies Boeing 737-8 jets from Grand Cayman to Miami, Tampa, New York, Denver, Los Angeles and Austin. It also flies to Kingston, Montego Bay, Havana, La Ceiba and Panama City. Its home page also lists Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Cayman Airways Express links the islands. It flies two Saab 340 B+ aircraft between Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. Three Twin Otter aircraft serve Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. The history page also notes older Boeing 727-200 and 737-300 jets.

The website lets visitors book flights, manage bookings, check in, search for vacations, check flight status and view a schedule and baggage policy. There are pages for special services and customer feedback. The head office is at 91 Owen Roberts Drive, Grand Cayman. The reservations number is 345-949-2311.
