Calgary Flying Club

The Calgary Flying Club is a member driven non profit organization located at Springbank Airport, a short drive west of Calgary, Alberta. It sits in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies and has supported aviation since 1927. The club is governed by a volunteer elected Board of Directors.

The club operates a professional flight school offering programs from introductory flights through to advanced certification. Students can train for a Private Pilot License or a Commercial Pilot License, which is the minimum license required to be employed as a pilot. Training is conducted by appointment.

Additional ratings and courses include Multi Engine, IFR, Night Rating, Flight Instructor Rating, Mountain Check outs, Tailwheel Check Out, Floatplane Rating, and Rusty Wings refresher flying. Student loan options are available for those who need assistance with training costs.

The fleet includes sixteen Cessna 172 aircraft, one of which is a Cessna 172S equipped with a GFC 500 autopilot. The club also operates a Cessna T182T, two Piper Seneca II Turbo twins that also have GFC 500 autopilots, and a Citabria tailwheel aircraft.

All club aircraft carry ADS B transponders for increased situational awareness. Most aircraft are equipped with Garmin GPS navigators and G5 or GI 275 electronic instruments. The Chief Flight Instructor and senior staff work to maintain the fleet at a high standard and evaluate modern avionics.

Members and non pilots may join the club. Membership provides access to club facilities, training resources, rental aircraft, and a discount on aviation fuel purchased at the fully automated filling station. The club also invites members to numerous social events throughout the year.

Aircraft rental is available to qualified members. The club offers renter information, current rates, and fleet details on its website. It serves as a gathering place for aviation enthusiasts in the Calgary area and surrounding region. Members can view the schedule and book through the club's online system.
