About Bailey Helicopters

Bailey Helicopters Ltd. is a rotary wing operator in Northern British Columbia and Alberta. The company has been in business since 1989, when it started with a single Bell 47. Over the years it has added aircraft and capabilities for a wide range of clients. Repeat business is the mainstay of its operations.

Bailey runs operations centers in Fort St. John, Fort Nelson and Prince George in British Columbia. It also has operations centers in Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta. Its helicopter services cover many industries and sectors, and the company is available 24 hours a day.

Forestry work is a core part of the business. Bailey offers forestry support and fire suppression, aerial ignition with a drip torch, avalanche control and bird towing. Its helicopter logging and grapple operations include timber cruising and tree planting. Camp support and cargo hauling with long lining are also offered.

Energy and resource clients can use oil and gas support, pipeline support and pipeline leak detection. Other services include powerline and utilities support, seismic drill moves and support, mineral exploration, infrared scanning and mapping, and aerial construction. Wildlife surveys, telemetry and capture are part of the work, along with fisheries.

Bailey also offers medevac, passenger transport, VIP flights, mountain flying, hover exit, aerial filming and photography, and helicopter tours. Customers with needs that are not listed can contact the company directly. Its fleet includes the Bell 212 HP with the BLR fast fin and strake modification, Airbus AS350 B3 and B2 helicopters, the Airbus EC135 P2+ and the Bell 206B.

Each aircraft is fitted with Spider X trackers, so dispatch can follow the fleet in virtual real time. The AS350 helicopters carry Aerodyne engine monitoring. Bailey was the lead customer for Latitude Technologies on flight data monitoring equipment, which has been approved by Transport Canada since May 2013.

Safety is a stated priority. Bailey runs an SMS program with SMS training and passenger safety briefings. It also has community and Indigenous engagement programs, including education, training and employment. Industry safety and association programs it works with include WorkSafeBC, the Helicopter Association of Canada and Energy Safety Canada.
