About Aviation Working Group

The Aviation Working Group (AWG) is a company limited by guarantee. It is organised under the laws of Bermuda. Its registered office is Clarendon House, 2 Church Street, Hamilton, Bermuda. The site shows that AWG works on aviation finance and leasing.

The group's main work focuses on the Cape Town Convention and the Aircraft Protocol, known as CTC. The site has a compliance index for the convention and an enforceability index for countries not yet party to it. The group also runs a Global Aircraft Trading System and a carbon calculator. It publishes model laws and court rules.

The site lists projects. These include standardised documents for aircraft transfers, cross border transferability, environmental matters, export credit, banking regulation, and air navigation and airport charges. It also lists a Cross Border Transferability handbook.

The site lists recent developments. The group signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates on cross border transfers of aircraft. It began joint consultations with the Insolvency Law Academy in India. Several banks and finance firms have joined, including HSBC Aviation, State Bank of India, Zenith Bank and AviLease.

The group publishes letters and statements. Examples include letters to the European Central Bank and the European Commission on bank capital rules. Others cover a statement on tariffs and aviation and a policy paper on withholding taxes in the aviation sector. The group also released a study on loss given default for aircraft backed loans.

The group also works on research and law. The site names a transnational commercial and leasing law project with Trinity College Dublin and several appointed research fellows. It also names model court rules for disputes under the convention.

The site has an events page and a login. Substantive enquiries go to the group's secretary general. Technical questions about the website go to a separate contact. The site lists no phone number or street address beyond the registered office.
