About AVIATION SOUTH WEST

Aviation South West is a flight training school founded at Exeter International Airport in 1999. It has bases at Exeter in the United Kingdom and in Malta. The site calls it an independent, family-run school with more than 20 years of experience.

It is an Approved Training Organisation with the UK CAA, number GBR.ATO.0118. It also holds approval from Transport Malta, number MLT.ATO.10. UK licences and ratings are issued by the UK CAA. EASA licences and ratings are issued by Transport Malta.

The school offers full-time and part-time modular flight training courses for commercial and private pilots. The site says courses can be shaped for each person. Both airports have air traffic control, and the school says the airspace around Exeter is not crowded. Instructors are described as focused on pilot careers.

One page explains differences training. This is needed when a pilot moves to a more complex aircraft in the same class rating. Examples are retractable undercarriage, variable pitch propellers, cabin pressurisation, turbo or super charging, tailwheel, single power lever control, glass cockpit instruments and cruise speeds above 140 knots. It also covers extending a licence to microlight aircraft in the UK.

The site shows student reviews that mention friendly staff and good aircraft availability. It says the Rural Development Programme for England helped pay for more aircraft and local jobs. The phone number is 01392 447887.
