Aquila Air Capital

Aquila Air Capital is a full-service aircraft and engine leasing platform founded in 2021 and backed by funds managed by Wafra Inc., a New York-based global alternative asset manager. It was established to build a specialty finance franchise in commercial aerospace, with an initial focus on purchasing, financing and leasing mid-life to mature engines and aircraft, and has grown its portfolio to USD 600 million of capital deployed through what it calls high-touch, metal-focused transactions. The company opened a new headquarters at Hume Street House, just off St. Stephen's Green in Dublin, Ireland, and celebrated its fifth anniversary on 19 April 2026.

Customers and funding

Airline logos shown on its site include Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Transavia, DHL, Silk Way and MIAT Mongolian Airlines. In 2026 Aquila closed a USD 400 million refinancing and upsizing of its warehouse facility with ATLAS SP Partners, the warehouse finance and securitised products business majority owned by Apollo funds. Recent appointments include David Crull as chief financial officer, Matthew Schneider as vice president of origination for the Americas, Cornelius Poon on the commercial team for Asia Pacific, Malachy Trainor as assistant vice president of technical operations, and Connor Campbell and Sean Farrell as associates in investment and financial analysis. The leadership team brings decades of experience in the aerospace and aviation industries.
