About Alpine Helicopters

Alpine Helicopters is a Canadian helicopter operator. It began operations in Calgary, Alberta, in 1961. The company says it has seven locations in Western Canada. It works in tourism, heli skiing, wildfire management, back country rescue, exploration, silviculture, power line maintenance and other commercial helicopter work. The company reports more than 20,000 flight hours a year.

Alpine's scenic tours are a large part of the business. The company has flown more than 3,000 sightseeing tours. Its full service tourist facility is at the Canmore Municipal Heliport, at the base of the Three Sisters Peaks. Tours include the Three Sisters Peaks Tour, the Mt Assiniboine and Glaciers Tour, the Continental Divide Tour and the Marvel Pass Tour.

Alpine also runs Stoney Nakoda sightseeing tours from Kananaskis, Alberta. These tours were designed with the local indigenous culture in mind. They include the Warrior Lookout, Spirit Water, Sleeping Warrior and Great Divide tours. Heli adventures are offered with partner businesses in Banff and Canmore. These include heli skiing with Canadian Mountain Holidays and helicopter weddings.

The company's commercial services include mountain rescue, forest fire suppression, power line work, photography and filming, resource support, construction lift and back country lodge support. Alpine is the exclusive helicopter provider for mountain rescue work in Banff. It also flies custom heli tours, heli picnics and transfers to back country lodges such as Talus Lodge and Mount Engadine Lodge.

Alpine's private charters use Bell helicopters with VIP interiors and a private passenger cabin. These aircraft carry 6 to 14 passengers. The company also offers corporate incentive tours and transfers from the Calgary International Airport to the Canmore Municipal Heliport. Canmore is the closest landing point to Banff.

The fleet has 41 intermediate and medium helicopters. It includes 16 Bell 212HP, 14 Bell 407, 9 Bell 206L-3 and 2 Airbus AS350 B3e helicopters. Each type is listed as medevac capable. The Bell 212HP has a maximum external sling load of 3,450 lbs, and the Bell 407 has 2,650 lbs. The company says it has recently added two Airbus aircraft to the fleet.
