Allianz Commercial (formerly Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty)

Allianz Commercial is the Allianz Group business that insures mid-sized companies, large corporates and specialist risks. The trade name brings together the large corporate insurance business of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) and the commercial business of Allianz national property and casualty companies. Its aviation team insures major airline fleets, manufacturers and airports as well as private pilots, ground handlers and small component makers, and says it has written aviation insurance since the early days of powered flight.

How risks are assessed

For airlines and general aviation, the company looks at fleet value, departures, passenger numbers, flight hours, pilot experience and safety record. For aerospace manufacturers it considers turnover, units produced, product quality and safety culture. Airports and ATC providers are assessed on passengers and departures. Capacity and terms depend on each risk and on local availability.
