The Pilatus PC-24 is a twin jet from Switzerland. It carries up to ten passengers and is certified for one pilot. Pilatus designed it to use short runways, including gravel, grass and snow, so it can reach small airstrips.
Pilatus started work on the PC-24 in 2007, after the success of its PC-12 turboprop. Customers wanted more speed and range but still wanted to use short, rough runways. The jet was shown to the public in May 2013 at EBACE in Geneva and first flew on 11 May 2015.
EASA and the FAA certified it on 7 December 2017. The first customer delivery went to PlaneSense in the United States on 7 February 2018. Approval for gravel and sand runways followed in late 2018, and for grass, wet earth and snow in February 2020. A refresh in July 2021 brought lighter seats, an optional galley and touchscreen avionics.
Charter companies and private owners fly the PC-24. Air ambulance operators use it too, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia, which received its first in November 2018. Pilatus had delivered 100 aircraft by January 2021, and about 212 had been built by early 2024.
