The price depends on the route, the dates, the season and where the aircraft has to come from. A full charter costs more than an empty leg, because you pay for the flight back too.

Dimensions, weights and performance are Textron Aviation figures for the CJ4 Gen3, which the maker marks as preliminary. Earlier CJ4 aircraft differ slightly. Block speed and fuel burn are typical figures for the CJ4.
The Citation CJ4 is the largest of Cessna's CJ family of light jets. It carries up to nine passengers, flies about 2,100 nautical miles and can be flown by a single pilot. Charter companies use it for short and medium trips, and it is the aircraft we see most often on empty leg flights.
Cessna launched the CJ4 at the NBAA convention in October 2006 as a stretched and faster member of the CitationJet family. It first flew on 5 May 2008 in Wichita, Kansas, and the first aircraft were delivered in 2010.
Compared with the CJ3, the cabin is 21 inches longer and the wing is borrowed from the larger Citation Sovereign, with moderate sweep. Two Williams FJ44-4A engines power it. The CJ4 Gen2, with cabin, avionics and autothrottle upgrades, entered service in March 2021. Textron Aviation has since announced the CJ4 Gen3, which is working toward FAA certification.
The CJ4 is certified for single pilot operation, which keeps crew costs down for owners. Charter operators often fly it with two pilots.

The cabin is 17 ft 4 in long, 58 in wide and 57 in high. A typical layout has a side facing divan at the front, four club seats facing each other, and two forward facing seats at the back, for up to nine passengers.
The cabin is pressurised to 9.0 psi. There is an enclosed lavatory at the rear, and the Gen3 adds a skylight and wireless cabin controls for lights, temperature and window shades.

Buyers often compare the CJ4 with the Citation CJ3+, which has almost as much range but carries less with full fuel and is slower, and with the Embraer Phenom 300, which burns less fuel and carries more with full tanks.

The maker quotes a maximum range of 2,165 nautical miles. That is enough for London to Athens, or New York to Denver, without a stop, depending on passengers, weather and reserves.
Up to 451 knots true airspeed, with typical block speeds of about 410 to 420 knots.
Yes. It is certified for single pilot operation. Many charter operators still fly it with two pilots.
