The Citation CJ3 is a light jet from Cessna that carries up to nine passengers. It flies about 2,000 nautical miles and can be flown by a single pilot. It sits between the smaller CJ2 and the larger CJ4 in the CJ family.
Cessna unveiled the CJ3 at the NBAA convention in September 2002 as a stretch of the CJ2. It first flew on 17 April 2003. The FAA certified it in October 2004, and deliveries began that December.
Two Williams FJ44-3A engines power it. The CJ3+ arrived in 2014 with Garmin G3000 avionics and a cabin with foldable armrests on the seats. The later Gen2 and Gen3 versions add autothrottles, and the Gen3 also has Garmin Emergency Autoland as standard.
Between late 2004 and spring 2018, about 500 CJ3 and CJ3+ aircraft were delivered. The flight deck is designed for one pilot, which keeps crew costs down for owners. Charter operators may still use two.

The cabin is 15 ft 8 in long, 58 in wide and 57 in high. A typical layout has six club seats. There is a baggage compartment you can reach during the flight and a second one that opens from outside.
The Gen3 cabin has USB C and wireless charging at the pedestal seats, colour changing ambient lighting and a skylight in the lavatory. The lavatory can be serviced from outside the aircraft.
