Buying aircraft parts: common questions
Browse every company in the aircraft parts suppliers category, or see maintenance and avionics companies.
- How do I request an aircraft part here?
- Add the part number and quantity (several lines if you need several parts), the condition and paperwork you need, the aircraft type and where the part should go. Switch on AOG if the aircraft is grounded. We pass the request to up to 5 suppliers that match the part type, aircraft and region, and they quote you directly by email. Buyers pay nothing and need no account.
- What does FAA Form 8130-3 mean?
- FAA Form 8130-3 is the Authorized Release Certificate: the tag that shows a new, overhauled or repaired part was released under FAA rules. EASA Form 1 is the European equivalent. A dual release part comes with both, which many operators need when they fly under both authorities. CAAC release is the Chinese equivalent.
- What does AOG mean?
- AOG stands for Aircraft on Ground: the aircraft cannot fly until a part is replaced, so every hour costs money. Suppliers with an AOG desk answer around the clock and ship the same day where they can. Use the AOG switch on the form and we put suppliers that report 24/7 AOG support first.
- What do NE, NS, OH, SV and AR mean?
- They are part condition codes. NE is new from the manufacturer, NS is new surplus (unused, from someone else's stock), OH is overhauled, SV is serviceable (inspected or repaired and released) and AR is as removed (taken off an aircraft, not yet inspected). Choose Any if condition does not matter.
- Are the certifications on this page checked?
- No. Certifications such as ASA-100, AS9120 or FAA Part 145 are shown as each company reports them on its website or in industry registers such as the ASA accreditation list. We have not verified them, so ask the supplier for its certificates and the part's release paperwork before you buy.
- What is a CAGE code?
- A CAGE (Commercial and Government Entity) code is a five character identifier the US Defense Logistics Agency and NATO agencies give to suppliers. Buyers use it to identify a company on government and defence orders. Use the Has CAGE code filter to see suppliers that report one.
- How does a parts supplier get listed?
- Any parts supplier can add its company page for US$99, paid once. Listed suppliers appear in this finder and can receive parts requests from buyers.
Do you sell aircraft parts?
