Boeing Secures Significant 737 MAX Order from Global Leasing Giant

Boeing has strengthened its market position with a significant order of 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from Macquarie AirFinance, bringing the total orders to 70 aircraft. The agreement, finalized in July 2025, underscores the continued demand for modern, efficient narrowbody aircraft in the global aviation market.

Exploring aviation fleet development strategies reveals the critical importance of fleet modernization for airlines and leasing companies. Macquarie AirFinance’s order reflects a strategic approach to reducing operational costs and environmental impact through advanced aircraft technologies.

The order represents Macquarie AirFinance’s second direct agreement with Boeing, highlighting the lessor’s commitment to fleet optimization. With a current portfolio of 227 aircraft serving 84 airlines across 48 countries, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of aviation leasing innovation.

Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, emphasized the strategic importance of lessors in the aviation ecosystem. “Macquarie AirFinance’s expanded commitment to the 737 MAX demonstrates the aircraft’s value in the leasing community,” he noted.

Understanding global aviation market dynamics provides context for this significant order. Macquarie’s diverse portfolio currently includes 160 Airbus, 65 Boeing, and two Embraer E190 jets, with plans to expand its next-generation narrowbody fleet.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft are scheduled for delivery through 2032, aligning with the lessor’s long-term fleet renewal strategy. This order comes as Boeing continues to navigate production challenges, currently limited by the FAA to producing 38 737 MAX aircraft per month following a 2024 safety incident.

In July 2025, Boeing secured a total of 31 orders, including this significant Macquarie AirFinance commitment and a single 787 Dreamliner from an unidentified customer. The company delivered 48 aircraft to 29 customers worldwide, with 37 of those being 737 MAX models.
