Gas Path Analysis Ltd (GPAL) specializes in developing software applications for performance monitoring of gas turbines and process compressors. GPAL technology solutions driven towards reducing Total Ownership Cost of gas turbines and compression systems. Performance monitoring provides warning of problems in advance and reduces unscheduled shutdowns. To be forewarned is to be forearmed and is aim of GPAL software solutions.
Software Solutions: XPGTn (gas turbine performance monitoring and diagnostics detecting damage at engine component level), XINSTn (detect changes in gas turbine fuel quality on-line), XCOMB (gas turbine combustion diagnostics monitoring exhaust gas temperature spread), XCREEP (turbine creep life cycle analysis evaluating actual life used based on operating conditions), XEM (gas turbine emissions monitoring using parametric emissions models), XCOMP (process compressor performance monitoring), GASCOMP (optimize gas compression system), XWASH (optimize engine wash to minimize lost revenue), COOPS (optimize performance of Combined Heat and Power plants). GPAL optimization software for plant operation results in lower fuel costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions taking into account any plant degradations present.
Gas Turbine Simulators: Version 2 launches state-of-the-art virtual gas turbines for education and training. Simulators effectively virtual gas turbines with respect to performance, control, turbine creep life usage and emissions. Unlike steady state simulations these simulators bring in additional dimension of time giving realistic feel of operation in real time. Two simulators offered covering vast majority of industrial gas turbines: single shaft gas turbine (power generation) and two-shaft gas turbine with free power turbine (mechanical drive applications). Free 14 day download available for students and professionals to try. Simulators include simulation of Turbine Inlet Cooling (TIC) technologies (evaporative cooling and chillers) to augment/enhance performance.
Headquarters: 14 St. John Street, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, MK16 8HJ, England, UK.
GPAL technology applicable to all gas turbines and compression systems irrespective of industry that employs these engines and machinery. Selected projects include Frame 6 (BP E-Tap), RB211-24C (Marathon Oil UK East Brae), Tornado (BP Lomond), RB211-22 (BG Transco/National Grid Moffat), process compressor monitoring (Marathon Oil UK, BP Lomond, BP Schiehallion, BP E-Tap), gas compression optimization (GASUM Finnish gas transmission operator, BG Storage).
GPAL founded in July 1997 by Ahmed M Yahya Razak (Zak) with over 25 years developing software for engineering applications. During last 15 years involved in oil and gas industry working on performance monitoring systems for gas turbines and process gas compressors. Graduated from Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University) UK in 1982 awarded PhD in Mathematical Modelling of Transients in Compressors in 1985.
Software developed by Zak Razak attracted Siemens (Hengelo Netherlands) to hire him where worked 3 years (2007 to 2010). After monitoring all compressors on NAM/Groningen Asset Siemens purchased non-exclusive royalty free license. Joined Rolls Royce in October 2010 based in Derby working on Trent 1000 rating and Trent 900. Filed over 20 patents, six granted, three by himself and two as lead inventor. Developed Triple-S (Strategic research centre-Stable-Simulation) program engine performance simulation in Excel/VBA more stable than NPSS.
