I had a great experience at US Aviation Academy! It was such a fantastic school to learn flying! They're always there when you need help. The academy is well-equipped with all the essentials like simulators and weather-checking computers. Their facilities really simplify the prep work. I truly appreciate how they've handled everything and would definitely recommend them!

I got nearly all my pilot ratings at the US Aviation Academy and now teach there. It's an outstanding training spot with a huge fleet of planes. Their dedicated maintenance team made me feel secure. They really focus on student progress and help you get past any tough spots. Highly recommend!

I've done a lot of my flight training at the US Aviation Academy. It's a solid choice! Safety first and solid teaching are their priorities. I was a Part 141 student at USAviation Academy for Instrument-CFII. Bottom line: As a domestic student, my training took waaaaaaaaay longer than expected/promised. This school has a international student income stream training foreign airline students and many many times, their flight lesson was given precedence over my scheduled block, due to their contract; if a plane went down for maintenance, it was given to the foreign lesson. COVID killed off some Chinese contracts, but they picked up some Nordic/Scandinavian contracts before I finished. I live about 1 hour drive from the Denton Campus and had about 20 instances where I had driven to the school and was told there was not a plane available. Absolutely bonkers, pick up the phone and give notice? As a disclaimer, I'm now around ATP minimum hours and have instructed successfully elsewhere for about 1.5 years; But as a CFI student and I was promised a job as a CFI if I went though their 141 program (I was one of the first 141 CFI students at the time); After completion of their program I was not extended an employment offer after waiting multiple months of being on "a waitlist", they were unwilling to formally tell me that they would not hire me. The interactions I did have with their chief flight instructor (Chris Ramey) were absolutely disgusting though, and my instructors at the time expressed extreme distain for him (so maybe bullet dodged?). Their CFIs are hit or miss. I had good instructors and I had some absolute trash instructors, no standardization in flight training in the plane. Their ground school was mainly about passing the written test and didn't really encourage actual understanding about the regulations or procedures. Plane quality was lacking, I know flight schools aircraft are beat on, but these were absolute trash. Once I did get in one of their few working TAA glass cockpits, the instructors had little knowledge on how to actually use the advanced avionics/autopilot, really sad. Insurance weather minimums for crosswind, total wind component and operating around adverse weather or willingness to fly in actual IFR was terrible. Instructors absolutely refused to fly in the slightest adverse conditions and my time/experience in actual IMC was limited after leaving. They don't train you for real world experience, only to satisfy the FAR requirements. I was not taught how to pick up IFR clearance at an un-towered field, or how to get a "pop up" IFR clearance in the air. Good things about this school: - They have 141 check authority so you're not waiting for a DPE for your checkride, but this is to mainly pad their pass numbers. - They have airline partner programs once you're flight instructor, you're able to become a regional airline cadet. Note some of the regionals are currently requiring ATP cert before they'll interview you.
