My son participated in a one-week aviation camp, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience. The camp offered an incredible opportunity for kids to learn about aviation in a fun and engaging way.
The camp balanced educational experiences with recreational ones, like trips to the pool, ensuring the kids had a well-rounded and enjoyable time.
The camp was well-organized, and the staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My son came home every day excited to share what he had learned and experienced. I highly recommend this aviation camp to any parent looking for a unique and enriching experience for their child.
This was an amazing experience. My daughter did pilot for a day to experience what it is like to train to become a pilot. The flight instructor was very thorough and easy going. The experience started with the pre flight checks, then on to boarding/starting the plane and into take off. Of course the instructor did the take off and landing, but my daughter took control of the plane at cruising altitude and was flying. If you’re interested in obtaining your pilots license, you should definitely check this out!
I recently experienced the "Pilot for a Day" program at NW Wings, and it exceeded all my expectations. I found the opportunity excellent to get a feel for the school, their staff and instructors, and see if it would be the right fit for my journey towards earning my private pilot license.
Michelle, my point of contact, was incredibly responsive and kept me constantly updated since our initial contact, during scheduling, through the experience and afterwards, ensuring everything went smoothly.
On the day of the flight I met Mark, my pilot and instructor. Mark was fantastic—patient, knowledgeable, and very approachable. He answered every question I had (and I had a lot!) with enthusiasm and expertise. His passion for flying and teaching was evident, making the whole experience both educational and enjoyable.
The "Pilot for a Day" program was not only fun but also very informative, giving me a comprehensive insight into what it’s like to be a pilot. I highly recommend this experience whether you're interested in pursuing a pilot license, curious about flying or just into trying new, exciting things!
I bought my friend an "Intro Flight" (which I had stated in the call). $300 for him and his son (son was a passenger) to actually only be in the air for about 45 minutes.
What he got was a tourist flight where he got to steer the aircraft a bit after takeoff.
Very little instruction on the actual mechanics or physics of flying, he was not allowed to taxi or take off. Granted, KHIO is somewhat complicated, but taxiing from parking is pretty straight-forward.
If you're looking for a unique gift, this might be a good option. If you're looking for anything more substantial, choose a smaller airport like Twin Oaks.
He had a good time, but it wasn't what I bought him.
The Aviation Camp was top notch! Our son had a great time learning about aviation, physics, the phonetic alphabetic, meeting new friends and enjoyed the field trips! It was an incredible experience to provide insights into the field of aviation as a career or hobby. Thank you for such a positive, educational camp!
