3 years agoI’m a licensed pilot working on an instrument rating. To get some of my solo x-country time done, as well as having an easier way home for a day trip, these guys are the closest to where I am (La Grande) that offer a rental airplane. When I first got here, they were really friendly and helpful in getting me to where I needed to go and what I needed to do to get checked out to rent. They only have one airplane to rent, a Cessna 172L. Really great price at $110/hour ($105/hour if you set an account with them), including fuel. It is very well kept and contains a Garmin 430 GPS. Super helpful for long flights. They do not allow night flight with their rental, something to keep in mind for really long flights. They do offer charter flights in their bigger airplanes and helicopters, along with this one. Although they do not have an online reservation system, making reservations through the phone was easy enough. Overall I have had a really positive experience. Would definitely recommend!

3 years agoI flew into Baker from Nampa, ID for an early morning flight. I was just out poking holes in the sky. I had been here once before on a fun flight and thought I would take a friend to do some sight seeing along the Snake River. We got fuel and taxied back to the run up area. After the preflight checks we went to taxi for take off and the plane wouldn't budge. Turns out we had a flat front tire. Better on the ground before takeoff than in the air before landing. I walked back to the FBO thinking three things had to go my way: 1. there had to be a mechanic on the field, 2. he would have to do work for the public and have time to help me, 3. he had to have a 500-5 inner tube. Not likely but hoping because the alternative was waiting for the wife to pick me up from 2 hours away and then the drive back. Well I have to tell you, nothing but props and respect for Baker Aviation and their mechanic. He dropped everything, towed my plane in the hangar, was able to find an inner tube to get me back home and put it in the tire and on the plane in an hour. He charged me a reasonable rate for the work and the fact he put me at the top of his list that day to get me home was excellent service. I can't say enough good things about him and Baker Aviation. This is what I love about small town airports and the people who own and work at them. I will definitely be back to patronize this FBO and buy their fuel. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping in. It doesn't get any better.
