1 star is being nice. My time here at this place was good for a very short time. And then it quickly went downhill. As far as flight instructors go, I had 3. This is not uncommon. The issue was having my solo flight pushed back several times, and continuously being told I need to work on stalls. This became the thing for approximately the next 6-8 weeks. After I had enough back and forth with the person in charge of finance, which was also a complete joke, I decided to take my money elsewhere and THAT has been the best thing I could have ever done!!! I will never recommend Fly Carolina to anyone, UNLESS that person is looking to be screwed out of A LOT OF MONEY. You all did me dirty and for that, I will forever let people know to NOT USE THIS FLIGHT SCHOOL FOR ANYTHING. I'm far more happy at my current school. Y'all are straight ripping people off, and although you should be ashamed, I am positive that you aren't. Like I said, 1 star is too nice. DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!!
Went earlier today (September 2nd), for a discovery flight. There is ample parking out front. Very clean and bright FBO facility. The bathroom was very clean. I had the pleasure of flying with Scott. He was very friendly and took time to explain different aspects of the airplane while on the ground and in the air. We took a loop around Lake Norman. Great experience and will update this review as my training progresses.
Awesome school, great instructors, and great fleet! All of the instructors I met and flew with at Fly Carolina were very knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. I got my Private Pilot License with Chad the lead instructor. Chad is a great guy, awesome pilot, and huge aviation fanatic. I would highly recommend him or any of the other instructors at Fly Carolina for anyone looking to get flight training. All of the instructors I flew with had the utmost integrity with my investment, almost as if it was their own. Allowing me to schedule on my own time, cancel if I needed, and making sure that every moment spent in the plane was maximized to the fullest. My only complaint about Fly Carolina is that they don’t accept student loans. They will help you with financing options where they can though. Really enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend.
I had to switch from a different flight school midway through training and Chad at Fly Carolina took me under his wing and helped me get my license. I had to leave the area and only had 3 months to accomplish all of the training necessary but Chad was willing to fly as much as necessary and help with ground instruction. We’re it not for Chad and Fly Carolina I would not have fulfilled one of my dreams. Great aircraft and great instructors!
I moved to Charlotte in February 2020 for work. I was searching for a flight school and instructor to start my commercial license. Fly Carolina had a nice fleet of airplanes, including two 172 G1000's based at JQF. I was introduced to Chad when I went to visit the school and he was very engaged in our first conversation. He said he could meet my schedule with no issues and I could tell he had a real passion for flying. It would be the first time I had an instructor that was younger than me, but his professionalism and aviation knowledge surpassed any initial concerns. We were able to progress through training very efficiently and I passed my commercial checkride in just 7 weeks.
