Blue Ridge Sport Flight was a wonderful place to earn my private pilot license. Greg provides and unparalleled experience of earning your license in a short amount of time. He also provides the unique experience of taking off and landing on a grass field. Something many pilots may never experience. Greg made me feel at home in a plane and made a very good learning environment. His plane is well kept as he is also an A&P with IA. I wouldn't have wanted to start my flying career anywhere else and would highly recommend Blue Ridge Sport Flight to anyone looking to start flying.

A bit of a story, but read through if you want an honest review. Prior to Blue Ridge I had about 20 hours of flight time which was mostly in the pattern and very little ground knowledge. After researching for accelerated courses online I came across Greg. When I called, he immediately answered and we scheduled a block a few months ahead. I drove from Massachusetts to Hendersonville and arrived at a little cottage equipped with a large bed, kitchenette, and a nice bathroom. Outside there's a grill overlooking the grass runway. There's something special about being that close to the airport. It keeps you focused on the task. Greg immediately assessed what level of experience I had and we began working. He's tough, but in the way an instructor should be. I showed up unprepared by not having my written completed, but passed the exam within a few days. Winds can be a little tough at the airport as it's tucked into the ridge, but on good flying days we would log 6+ hours. I was able to pass the check-ride within 2.5 weeks. I've now flown with at least 20 instructors and have had 4 primary CFI's. You can immediately tell the difference between a young instructor looking to build hours for the airlines and someone who instructs out of the passion for aviation. Greg is the latter. I would recommend this school to anyone and sincerely hope to visit 0A7 again. Final thought: Hendersonville is a truly wonderful town with some of the friendliest people I've come across. Ashville is a short drive north with a lot to check out as well.

Greg was very Knowledgeable and helpful preparing me for my Instrument Checkride. Greg scheduled my checkride for me and had me ready in a few days. The cabin he has is very nice and clean, and allows whoever to strictly study and get prepared.

I used Blue Ridge for my instrument flight training and prep for the check-ride. Greg was an excellent instructor and had me fully prepared and confident for my check-ride. I stayed in the cottage and that proved to be the right choice, it’s located right on the private airport. Would definitely recommend Blue Ridge to anyone who is prepared for an accelerated course and wants great instruction.
