Awesome place!! I came to Cactus as an out-of-towner in a tough spot. I got an instructor and a schedule within 24 hours of reaching out and passed a private check ride a week later! Great atmosphere, Cactus leaves room for enjoyment in their flight training which is a big plus. Branden’s done a good job finding instructors/staff that instill that attitude while still being productive. Planes are well-maintained, good airport to fly out of. Instructor Sam and I immediately got along and got to work, I had plenty of confidence I would knock out the check ride when I needed it. I’ll be back in town soon and look forward to flying with Cactus again. Hopefully I get to see the 172 they won from Cessna when I return!
After having a bad experience at another flight school, I tried Cactus. I can say one thing for sure, the instructor will not remember you and they don't feel like they need to produce an actual pilot. I have been waiting over a month for them to contact me over my last flight with them.
Update: So I started flying with another CFI. He has pointed out numerous things the people at Cactus aviation have done wrong. Since flying with another instructor I have been signed off to solo on my 3rd flight with him. Any mention of solo at Cactus made them cringe as they felt they were losing money by making me jump through all the hopes they felt were necessary and not required by the FAA. I would recommend running as fast as you can away from Cactus Aviation and find someone who actually cares if you succeed and live your dreams.
Update: I posted the review below earlier as I was having issues contacting their office manager. What I didn’t know is that there were extenuating circumstances that caused the issues. They contacted me and were completely professional and very timely. A great place to FLY!!
Excellent instructors and good aircraft. The office receptionist goes above and beyond to help. Issues with their communication methods but they did resolve all issues eventually. Before putting a large sum down I suggest you read all documents carefully, especially the $1000 early termination penalty. That being said, this is a good place to learn to fly.
