I triggered my 24/7 life support system to call for help. When fire department and EMS arrived my service dog was frightened and shaking. Med star would not approach me to do a work up on me and told me that I absolutely could not take my service dog to the hospital with me. She is the one who helped me before they got there, are you serious. Once again people who don't know the law. Med star argued with with me about taking my service dog and after I showed them her badge with her I.D. Number they said that it was a fake i.d. and that the hospital does not allow dogs, while watching me walk around my house dizzy, about to fait, holding on to my furniture, with no remorse or help. Continuing to argue with them my pressure rose and they finally decided to do a work up on me and stated my blood pressure was high that's probably why I was dizzy. But they made it worse.
We were told at Ford Hosp that my mother would be discharged from the hospital at 3 PM. It is not 8:05 pm and we’re still waiting for an ambulance from Medstar. Very unprofessional!
Unfortunately, they listened to the firefighters who arrived on the scene with them; those firefighters were telling them not to check for a heart attack because they didn't believe I was having one. They didn't get out of the ambulance to bring a stretcher into my place. I was made to walk out of my place and to the ambulance on the street again while in extreme pain due to a heart attack.
Once I was in the ambulance, they treated me VERY well and with much respect! One paramedic (young lady) did an EKG on me right away in the ambulance before taking off, even though the firefighters were still trying to convince them not to. She caught a slight problem with the EKG and spoke to me about it, taking seriously into account what I was telling her, which showed a lot of respect for me knowing my own health history. She told the driver that things weren't looking good and they rushed me to the hospital. She reported it immediately to the staff in the ER who took an EKG comparing the two. I was immediately rushed to the heart cath lab. Again, thank goodness they didn't totally listen to the firefighters, because this was a true heart attack that needed immediate attention.
Suppose to pick my mother up from hospital to transport back to her long term care facility. Suppose to be here at 6pm which I myself was told when I called at 3:17. Was told by hospital they are gonna be late. I call back to be told they can’t give me any info only hospital can call Kinda funny I was told earlier. Atleast a dozen ambulances hanging out by the hospital but can’t do their job. Do better medstar
