This has to do with the maintenance section of this company and I have no knowledge about the flight school. I cannot give zero stars. Added a GI-275 to my aircraft for primary engine instrumentation. The wiring and configuration was all wrong and they lost the fuel calibration data when I needed to pick up the airplane. Broke 3 static wicks, which they replaced. Needed more time and labor to fix what they had installed. The most egregious behavior was the no response to my request both by phone and email for an AOG service where my aircraft starter needed to be replaced just down the road from their ramp. Any mechanic could have done this. However, I had to get a mechanic from 2 hours away. DO NOT TRUST this place to do anything with your aircraft. They should not be in business.

36% 36% completion rate. That's the only statistic you need to know. And one that LIFT loves to conceal until AFTER they've locked you into a contract. Best part? They will play the victim throughout the entire process. They'll moan about operating at a loss while priced higher than a Part 61. A Part 61, mind you, that boasts a 90th percentile completion rate. You are nothing but a number to them. Rather than focus on quality training, they have classes starting monthly. Their completion rate is so poor, they hardly have CFIs who have gone through the program - the growing number are outside hires. All in an environment where you're supposed to do everything "The LIFT Way," it's a disaster. 36% agrees with me. At the end of the day, don't become a statistic. They cry about losing money, meanwhile you'll have to explain what went wrong in every interview you'll have for the rest of your career. Avoid LIFT at all costs. The employees are miserable. The instructors are miserable. YOU WILL BE MISERABLE. And in considerable debt for little to nothing to show for it - all at a much higher cost than the market otherwise dictates.

In my time at Lift Academy my experience was nothing short of awful. I went in with excitement, getting accepted and approved was one of the most exciting days of my life, I cried tears of joy when I finally got in. It didn’t take long at all to turn into tears of frustration. The first week the orientation was disorganized and you could tell everything was just sort of passed off to someone. We had instructors who couldn’t tell us what room to be in the next day, we had instructors who would tell us they’d never done orientation before and had no idea what all to go over with us. The flight simulators were both broken my entire tenure there and were never repaired so you were forced into the sky early and were expected to have a great feel of everything right away. My personal instructor yelled at me for my nervous laughter when I didn’t know something. The student advisors could never help and would always just tell me the instructor would work with me. However, when I had questions or wanted to review things I had questions on for the private pilot exam, he more often than not could not help me find the correct answer. My instructor spent a lot of his time just socializing and never really went through things with me and was always in a rush to leave or go talk to someone. I was in danger of being removed from the program due to not being able to score a 90 on the exam, although passing is a 70. Meanwhile, other students who were flight attendants were given a free pass to stay there as long as they needed to and not be in danger of being removed. The instructors and advisors at this school were some of the worst teachers and humans I ever met in my entire life. I strongly recommend you do not go here. When I shared some of the specifics of my lessons on the pilot community on Reddit a lot of Pilots told me the practices I was being taught were very unsafe and not normal flight school behavior. And don’t get me started on the amount of money they charge you even if you are forced out of there in the first 3 months with little to no flying experience due to weather and such. Indianapolis international is not a good beginner pilot airport, I do believe it’s important that you get used to it but for someone just starting out it is just too much extra to deal with and too much waiting time. It’s been quite a while since I attended this school and I realized I’d never spoken out about my poor experience there. I was a good student, I went home and studied, I purchased extra study material and online courses, I went to the school on my days off to study and learn, and I participated in all the extra curricular activities. Maybe at the end of the day I truly wasn’t smart enough to become an airline pilot, but when the “teachers” tell you it’s all self study and they can’t help you with your questions it doesn’t exactly set you up for success even when you are dedicated and a hard worker.

I simply can't understand why these instructors think it's fine to have students fly low and circle over subdivisions and neighborhoods. Students should learn over open fields, Stay away from this flight school. Completely unprofessional and dangerous.

Absolutely believe the negative reviews. Their own CFIs don’t like working there. Owned by Republic so remember that next time you book a flight with them.
