I have never had a bad experience at Air America Flight Center! From the moment I arrived a while ago to start instrument up to now about to finish CFII, the staff was welcoming and professional, making me feel right at home. The instructors are knowledgeable and passionate about aviation, ensuring that I felt safe and supported throughout my flight training. The facilities and planes are very good as well. It’s clear that they truly care about their students’ success. I highly recommend Air America Flight Center for anyone interested in flying.
I have been a renter at Air America Flight Center for two years, and a flight instructor here for a little under a year. The management and staff is great, the airplanes are well kept, and clean (most with new avionics and autopilot too). As a renter, they allow you to fly anywhere in the country which is awesome, and allows pilots to gain valuable real world flying experience. With very reasonable aircraft and instructor rates, I cannot recommend Air America Flight Center enough.
DO NOT DEPOSIT A LARGE AMOUNT IN YOUR FLIGHT ACCOUNT!!! After requesting a refund 3 months before my checkride they gave me the run around and after finally calling back they asked if they can pay in installments I denied and asked for the full amount a measly 14k for what they make in a day. They then preceded to send half the amount over a span of 2.5 months and I still have yet to receive the full amount RUN!!! I’ve had 3 DPEs deny flying with them for a checkride and had a cylinder 3 failure in my time there. Which lead to an emergency landing the planes are old and overused. Although I had a good flight experience the refund process left a horrible impression. STAY AWAY as the federal trade commission complaint will open an investigation.
I completed my CFI and have always rented airplanes from Air America. It’s a great place to work on your ratings if you’re looking for flexibility. Fly as much or as little as you’d like. As a part 141 student, doing my CFI part 61 at Air America provided me with the necessary real world experience to be an effective flight instructor. They also have nicely equipped carb 172s at a pretty good rate. I recommend considering Air America for your flight training and rental needs.
I trained for and attained my Instrument Rating at Air America flight center. Air America has been a great experience and I would recommend it as the best in the Daytona Beach area. The aircraft are all in working condition, but you may want to check in advance of your flight in a “six pack” 172 if you need GPS to be functional. My instructor and the other instructors that I have flown with are exceptional and very competent.
My Instructor’s name is Kyle Koehler - he was fantastic. I would highly recommend him as well as David Noah and Chris Rutledge, other great CFIs.
