It’s a nice airport but some of the works are not friendly at all. It’s long so make sure you do not wait around or you can miss your flight. Terminals are about a 15 minute walk. Shopping is easy as you walk through it to go to the terminals but for food not a lot of options and the security can be over the top when asking for help. Coming in they have a lot of options to get you home and when leaving I would go around 3 and a half hours early for international flights because they will take late flights ahead and it can make you late.
This is a very convenient airport which provides international connections to Europe and beyond. It’s neither too small nor too big . Emirates is a flagship airline for long distance flights from this airport that allows multiple connections. The airport has many shops and places to sit and eat and needless to mention the duty free shops which are in plenty
The airport is clean, staff are friendly and the duty free is fantastic!!! They always have promotions on and good gifts.
We always book into the lounge, the selection of food is not a lot but it is always fresh. The bar is amazinggggggg, they have endless, premium alcohol and mixers. The staff in the lounge are very professional and extremely attentive, I couldn't fault anything.

One of the most impressive aspects of this terminal is its excellent prayer facilities, which are a real benefit for travelers looking to fulfill their religious obligations. The prayer rooms are quiet, clean, and well-maintained, offering a peaceful, respectful environment that accommodates the needs of passengers from diverse backgrounds. The space is thoughtfully designed, with prayer mats, ablution facilities, and clear signage to make it easy to find.
Additionally, the terminal’s excellent train links make it incredibly easy to get to and from central London and other areas, with the Gatwick Express and other services ensuring swift, hassle-free access. This convenience, combined with the South Terminal’s well-organized layout, makes navigation through the airport smooth and straightforward.
For those looking to unwind, the lounge facilities are exceptional, providing comfortable seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, refreshments, and an atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxation or productivity. Staff members are friendly and attentive, adding a touch of luxury to the overall experience.
In sum, London Gatwick’s South Terminal is a first-rate facility that thoughtfully considers every traveler’s needs—from prayer facilities and lounge spaces to dining options and efficient transit links. A highly recommended airport for comfort, accessibility, and inclusivity.
London Gatwick airport has two terminals.. North and South terminal.
Both has short stay, long stay parking and pick up and drop off areas.
South terminal shortstay has three areas- orange, red and ?green; no prebooking needed.. I had been to red and it was pretty near to the terminal.
