I contacted Sport Flying of Connecticut to schedule an introductory Flight Lesson as a birthday present for my son. I spoke with Cliff who was very helpful and went out of his way to accommodate our tight schedule. Cliff is an excellent instructor. He took his time explaining everything to my son in detail and made sure he really understood it. He’s definitely great with kids. All aspects of the experience, from scheduling the flight through the flight itself, was a great experience. I highly recommend Cliff and Sport Flying of Connecticut!
Tony has been my instructor fo nearly 2 decades. Flying with him every 9-12 months or so for IFR Currency and biannual flight reviews has kept me and my family both safe and comfortable while in the air. Don’t get me wrong, his flight reviews are “work”, but I always come out of them prepared for the unexpected. He’s a great communicator that focuses on the important stuff that will keep a pilot and passengers and safe. He is not one to spend time and energy on proving his knowledge of the minutia that adds no value. I highly recommend him.
Easy to reach. Instructors are great. Availability of planes and instructors is high. Rates are reasonable. The seaplane is an absolute blast! Recommended.
I worked with Sport Flying of Connecticut to earn my sea plane rating and had an awesome time. The husky is a great airplane and my CFI Alex provided fantastic instruction. Tony is a great guy and was very fair on my checkride. I have only good things to say about this opperation. I would recommend it to anyone.
I earned my PPL 2 days ago (last Saturday)... and have to admit that Tony DeBany is an absolutely incredible instructor. He is not the one who believes in short-cuts and made me work really hard. I may have put in the hours, but he put his heart in my training. I may have put in the slog for the written, oral or the final practicals but he had my interests. It is easy to get confused by the jazz that I experienced with another flight school but Tony kept it simple... learn, learn, learn and keep flying the darned plane. He is tough and demanding ... just because he wants his students to be SAFER pilots than just legal license holders. I intend to earn my instrument rating with Tony.
