The groundwork for Intact Financial Corporation was laid back in 1809 with the establishment of the British Insurance Company of North America. Through decades of evolution, including key mergers and acquisitions, the organization has grown to become a major player in Canada’s insurance landscape. A transformative moment came in 2009 when it acquired AXA’s Canadian operations, cementing its status as the top provider of property and casualty insurance. With a keen emphasis on aerospace, Intact has tailored its services to the unique risks and needs of the aviation industry.
In addition to insurance, Intact plays a crucial role in the realm of risk management. By offering consulting services, they assist clients in understanding their operational risks. They provide guidance on compliance, safety protocols, and strategic insurance solutions to bolster business resilience.
More recently, Intact has embraced a commitment to sustainability. The company is taking initiatives to address climate change impacts through eco-friendly practices and products. Their community engagement strategies reflect a dedication to not only their clients but also the broader public! Innovations like green insurance products and disaster recovery services are paving the way for a more sustainable future.

3 months agoI’ve been with Intact through Costco for years for home and auto. They are very price competitive. But that comes at the cost of service. Some brokers are better than others. Expect to be on hold to speak to a receptionist and then be on hold again for over an hour to be transferred to a broker just to ask a question or make changes (their web presence for FAQs or self service is weak). This happened to me repeatedly to the point I switched providers.

3 months agoAwful experience with insurance claim, for a no fault claim. After accepting that the rental car could only be returned near the end of the week, which was being noted on our file, they refused to allow us two additional days so the car could be driven back to Ottawa. After multiple attempts in trying to reach them, they went silent on my pleas to accommodate our situation. I did not even know where to return the vehicle, as different information existed on multiple forms, and again, no courtesy response to help clarify. Now, my daughter is driving late at night, after a long week of school, to return the vehicle in time, and since I cannot make the 5h00 pm closure date, I will still be charged extra for the rental. This lack of respect and communication is absurd. I have been a client for over 30 years, with only one small vehicle claim until now, and this is the treatment they provide. I will never ever continue to insure my items with them as this is the most awful experience I have ever witnessed by a company in my entire life. After receiving the response that they would be happy to connect, see below, I called the number provided and have yet to receive a call from them.

a month agoWorst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. Flooded basement & not paid out for damages. If that wasn’t enough tried to cancel policy but they wouldn’t allow it. Sent $220 to collection after they cancelled for non sufficient funds. Was the only way I could have them cancel the policy after I sold my house. I will never go back to intact & will warn everyone about them.

a month agoI have been with intact insurance for oner ten years and a clean driving reacord. I was rear ended in my new 130,000 $ truck i deltwith Kevin turk and he wanted to put used parts or refurbished and a used trailer hitch. I do pull heavy trailers with my f550 king ranch so I wanted to make sure it wasn't compromised from being hit . The car that his was was a write off .Kevin turk was not helpful during the time he had my case took over a year before someone higher up allowing the oem parts replaced on my truck to any one reading this do not deal or allow Kevin turk to handle your claims I highly suggest avoiding him if you want satisfaction to you not at fault claim other than that intact has been great to me

4 months agoBreach of contract by them seems to be a standard business practice with zero accountability. It is an insurance company after all so I get that they're going to be scummy but to outright breach a contract in the most obvious way possible with written evidence is just... surprising. Anyway. All insurance companies suck, but Intact just sucks more.
